Part 5 – The Answer I Almost Missed

A Bro Dave Letter to the Ones Still Searching

It Was Right in Front of Me… and I Almost Walked Past It

Sometimes the thing we’re praying for is already here — we just don’t recognize it yet.

Dear Friend,

I need to tell you about the night I almost missed my own answer. I had been praying for weeks — no, months — asking God for direction, a sign, something to break the silence.

One evening, worn out from waiting, I decided to take a walk. I wasn’t looking for answers; honestly, I was tired of looking. But halfway down the road, I saw something that made me stop — a small handwritten note taped to a lamppost. It simply read:

“Don’t quit. You’re almost there.”

At first, I thought it was just some random thing. But in my spirit, I felt the weight of it. It was the exact line I had whispered to God the night before: “Lord, am I almost there?”

That’s when it hit me — I’d been so focused on expecting God to answer in the way I thought He should, that I almost missed the way He actually did.

The Hidden Tip

Your answer may not look the way you pictured it. It might be smaller, quieter, or dressed in ordinary clothes. That doesn’t make it any less divine.

If you only look for burning bushes, you might miss the whisper.

Poem – “The Unwrapped Gift”

It didn’t come with ribbons, It didn’t shine with gold, It came in ways so simple, I barely could behold.

Yet there it was — my answer, Disguised in common air, And now I see the beauty Of blessings unaware.

The Tale – The Man at the River

A man stood at the edge of a river, praying for a bridge. He watched the water, waiting for planks and ropes to appear. Days passed. Weeks passed.

Finally, in frustration, he turned to leave — and saw a boat tied to a tree, ready to carry him across.

It had been there the whole time.

Friend, don’t walk away from your crossing because you expected it to look different.

The Good News in This Moment

Your answer might already be within reach. Don’t assume God’s “yes” is always wrapped in a miracle-sized package. Sometimes, it’s hidden in the familiar — waiting for your faith to recognize it.

A Mysterious Hint for What’s Next

In our next letter, I’ll tell you about the moment I realized that sometimes God doesn’t just give you the answer… He makes you the answer for someone else.

And that’s when everything changes.

Stay watchful. Stay humble. You might be closer than you think.
